Job Description Summary

Assists with organizing and scheduling of Nurse Aide I (NA I), Nurse Aide II (NA II), Medication Aide, Career & College Promise (CCP), Dental & Veterinary Radiology, and other classes as needed. Monitors classroom and clinical training to ensure compliance with state rules, regulations and federal laws pertaining to the above classes. Assists in selection of qualified instructors for employment for the above classes and orients qualified instructors to teach above classes. Assist with accurately maintaining program forms and records relative to Nurse Aide classes and CCP classes as mandated by the state. Provide individual guidance with students when needed. Instructs classes as needed in any location to support consistency and quality of Nurse Aide program.

Duties

1. Schedules instructors for CPR classes, and 2nd Testing. Fills in schedule gaps when necessary. Provides 3rd testing of students when required.
2. Supervises instructors in class, lab, and clinical setting. Provides resources and assistance for lead instructors to insure regulatory requirements are maintained.
3. Instructs classes as needed in any location to support consistency and quality of Nurse Aide program.
4. Monitors inventory and works with administrative assistant to maintain adequate classroom and lab supplies.
5. Accurately completes state, college, and department mandated forms required for classes. Reviews class and student files for completed documentation.
6. Assists in registering students for classes, enters student information in Colleague. Reviews immunization records for accuracy and completeness.
7. Counsels students and assist with job placement when needed. Assists with new employee orientation and training. Assists with class orientation.
8. Assists with delivering supplies for off-campus locations.
9. Oversees all classes to ensure that DHSR rules are maintained.
10. Other job-related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

1. Associate’s degree in Nursing;
2. Two years full time direct patient care as a registered nurse;
3. Experience with supervision of nurse aides;
4. One year in long-term care;
5. American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
6. Current unrestricted NC license to practice as a registered nurse.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing;
2. Experience working in the North Carolina Community College System;
3. Experience working with Continuing Education programs;
4. Two years of experience teaching adults.
