Job Description Summary

Assists all incoming students with the enrollment process, including application, placement, program admissions process, and basic financial aid information. Proactively advises General Occupational Technology (GOT) students, assisting with career advising, application processes, course selection, financial aid, and admission to the student’s intended program or an identified alternate program. Connects students with needed career services and other resources as appropriate.

Duties

1. Assists students with the overall enrollment process, including basic financial aid information, placement, placement score interpretation, and program admission processes.
2. Understands and interprets placement, college policies, procedures and degree requirements, and refers to campus services as necessary.
3. Serves as an information resource and respond to inquiries from parents, students, faculty, and staff by maintaining knowledge of competitive and limited program requirements and admission deadlines.
4. Assists students with admission to competitive and limited programs of study during established application cycles, identifying and connecting with qualified individuals.
5. Provides proactive advising to case-managed GOT program students and unclassified students interested in competitive and limited programs.
6. Responds to Early Alerts submitted by faculty for students identified as ‘at risk’ by faculty via the Early Alert process, connecting them with appropriate community resources or College services related financial, professional, and related personal or academic concerns.
7. Connects students with career development services as necessary. Redirects students to more appropriate/better-fit programs of study based on results of career development services interactions.
8. Assists students with understanding the educational planning, program evaluation and registration processes in WebAdvisor.
9. Contributes to the overall success of the College by remaining competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development sessions, and attending training.
10. Other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree;
2. One year of experience in academic advising, or two years of experience in student services;
3. Experience working with demographically diverse college students.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with Colleague or computerized college information systems in general;
2. Master’s Degree.
